winnaar World Press Photo 2009
De Spaans / Italiaanse fotograaf Mattia Insolera (winnaar World Press Photo 2009) verblijft op dit moment in Amersfoort voor een artist in residence periode in Vathorst. In het kader van de internationale fotobiënnale GRID 2012 / Amersfoort Fotostad 033 heeft hij de opdracht gekregen het leven in vinexwijk Vathorst vast te leggen. Het resultaat van zijn artist in residence periode is vanaf 18 mei 2012 in ICOON (Leeghwater 1-3) in Vathorst te zien.
Tijdens deze werkperiode gaat Mattia Insolera twee masterclasses ORIGINAL STORYTELLING geven voor geoefende fotografen en fotoliefhebbers. De masterclass duurt twee dagen en wordt verspreid over twee weekenden. De eerste masterclass vindt plaats op 19 en 26 mei, de tweede masterclass op 20 en 27 mei. Iedere dag wordt er gewerkt van 10:00 uur tot 18:00 uur in ICOON en/of DISCOVER! Deze 16-urige masterclass kost slechts € 100 euro, studenten krijgen 50 % korting. ORIGINAL STORYTELLING
‘Enrich your palette, extend the canvas’
In a world so visualy overcrowded, how to tell a story with some originality? This masterclass aims to help the student in finding his own personal point of view and express it in a coherent photographic project, putting the forms in the service of the content.
Every choice has a meaning, so we'll discuss different strategies to deal with different issues using a tailor made point of view. Choose a topic and a visual style, create a storyboard, build a network of contacts, use field work tactics, solve problems in a creative way: these are some of the issues with wich we're going to deal.
In each class we will discuss - with practical demonstrations and references to photographic works - one of the four phases of the creative process, which are:
-ideation of a feature: the documentary photography in the era of flickr
-preparation of the field work: storyboarding, networking and work planning
-field work:
take a picture or make a picture?
-editing and post-production
Mattia Insolera will present a photo-essay of Transmediterranea, his ongoing longterm project featuring 21 stories of the Mediterranean of the 21st century.
